Canoe Safari River Spey

Activity Overview

The Cairngorms National Park has it all.  Towering mountains, native forests, lochs and rivers.  It also has the mighty River Spey flowing through it all the way to Spey Bay on the coast.

We can organise and guide a short canoe journey for your group, whether that’s on a gentle, meandering stretch of the river, perhaps something a little more interesting that includes a small rapid or 2, or even a full-on whitewater canoeing experience.

On this journey you start off in the bustling town of Aviemore, and after a bit of coaching to help you on your way, you’ll be guided down river towards Boat of Garten.  With a couple of small rapids to keep you on your toes, the majority of the trip is on an easy-going, lazy stretch of the river.  You’ll have time to eat your picnic lunch on the banks of the river before arriving at the little village of Boat of Garten.

At this point you have a couple of options.  You may want to take the Strathspey Steam Train back to Aviemore to round off a wonderful day on the river, or alternatively we will have arranged shuttles back to Aviemore with you beforehand.

Please note that the train journey is dependent on availability on the chosen date.  You should also bear in mind that we cannot guarantee that you will arrive in time for the train if for example, there are delays canoeing down river.  If the river is flowing faster than usual, you may also arrive a lot earlier than planned.
