Instructor Roles with In Your Element for the 2021 season

We are now recruiting for a number of instructor positions across Scotland.  We have vacancies at our Inverness, Aviemore, Loch Tay and Loch Lomond locations.

What jobs are available?

In Your Element is recruiting for seasonal Multi-Activity Instructor positions across Scotland:

Instructor pay scales

  • Instructor: £19-£21k pro rata
  • Lead Instructor: £22-23k pro rata
  • Senior Instructor*: £23-£24.5k pro rata

*Please note that the Senior Instructor position at Loch Tay has the potential to be upgraded to a permanent managerial post if a candidate applies with suitable experience and is willing to take on extra company-wide management responsibilities.

A range of qualifications is required for multi-activity instructor posts.  Open canoeing and gorge walking are our two most popular activities, so proven experience in these areas are most desirable.  We can be very flexible on the duration of summer contracts to suit your personal circumstances and would consider everything from two months (July & August) to seven months.

Other positions available

In addition to these Instructor positions, we are also looking for:

Storeman/Driver Inverness/Loch Ness base:

  • £9.50/hr, 7-month contract p/t or f/t
  • Must be aged 25+ to drive our 9-seat vans

Hire Assistant Aviemore (bike hire) & Loch Tay (boat hire)

  • £9/hr May or June to August or September
  • No qualifications required

*Ideal student summer job*

Kickstart’ Trainee Bike Mechanic^

  • Aviemore

  • 6-month Kickstart training scheme – candidates must be 16-24 yrs old,
  • unemployed and claiming universal credit

‘Kickstart’ Trainee Outdoor Activity Instructor^

  • Aviemore
  • NMW
  • 6-month Kickstart training scheme – candidates must be 16-24 yrs old,
  • unemployed and claiming universal credit

Kickstart’ Trainee Outdoor Activity Instructor^

  • Killin, Loch Tay
  • NMW
  • 6-month Kickstart training scheme – candidates must be 16-24 yrs old,
  • Unemployed and claiming universal credit

^ Kickstart training placements must be applied for through your job coach, but please e-mail us to register your interest and we will let you know when the opportunity goes live on the Kickstart platform.

Freelance Instructors

In Your Element are always looking for freelance instructors to complement our team of core instructors on larger events.  We now have bases in Inverness, Aviemore, Loch Lomond and Loch Tay, covering bookings across Scotland.

We are particularly interested in instructors with experience and qualifications in the following:

  • Archery
  • Open Canoeing
  • Experience in whitewater activities, e.g. gorge walking, canyoning
  • Mountain bike TCL and MBL
