TreeZone Aviemore
Activity Overview
What To Expect At TreeZone Aviemore
High in the treetops TreeZone is the ultimate Treetop Adventure Course ….. a 100-metre zip-line, balance beams, hanging platforms, tight-ropes, scramble nets, white knuckle bridges & gap jumps, set in the ancient Caledonian Pines of the Cairngorm Mountains. This is an unforgettable 5-star experience.
Treecreeper Course
Everyone starts at the TreeZone Fortress venturing out onto The TreeCreeper first, negotiating obstacles up to five metres off the ground. This course is suitable for those aged at least 8 years old and 1.1m tall. No previous experience is required. For those under 1.3m tall, they can have another shot on the TreeCreeper Course, while the bigger and braver amongst you can graduate to the Buzzard Course.
Buzzard Course
The Buzzard is the TreeCreeper’s big brother and rising to an airy 15 metres high, and will test your bravery as well as your ability. Bigger spans, wobblier bridges, wider gaps and a hanging zip wire will all challenge you as you climb steadily higher.
With names like the Pogo Sticks, Pig Tails, Church Organ and Skipping Ropes don’t let the Buzzard’s defences lull you into a false sense of security. As you climb onwards and upwards, the tests get meaner until you’re just one tightrope walk away from the Buzzard’s Nest.
But that’s not all! The best way back down to the ground is via the exhilarating 100-metre Zip Line.

Final numbers must be confirmed and the remainder paid at least 4 weeks before the date of the booking.

Less than 4 full weeks before the booking date – no refund will be given.

Need to chat to someone?
It’s a very good idea to as we can’t guarantee a space for you unless you have a booking. If you turn up on the day and we have space then that’s fine too, but we’d hate for you to be disappointed if we were full.
The simplest way to book is online. Alternatively you can pop into the cabin with your payment or call us with your credit/debit card details. Please note that we do not take provisional bookings and full payment will be required at the time of booking.
That is a little bit of a “How long is a piece of string” question! We find that most people take between 1 and 1.5 hours although this can vary considerably depending on how brave and strong you’re feeling on the day and also how busy it is.
You start with one lap on the short course, followed by one lap of the long course if you are tall enough and feeling brave. Otherwise you can take a 2nd lap of the short course instead.
We are lucky to have Red Squirrels, Otters and Ospreys as neighbours, as well as smaller birds. Keep your eye out and you may catch a glimpse of all kinds of nature while you’re up there. Treezone gives unique, spectacular views of the Cairngorm Mountains.
Treezone is year-round fun and operates in nearly all weathers!
High winds, thunderstorms or heavy snow in the trees may force us to close the course for safety reasons. Contact us before you leave home if the weather is looking a little too ‘interesting’.
You will be refunded or given the option to re-schedule if we need to close the course due to weather.
Cameras can be taken with you as long as they are secure so you cannot drop them from the course (we don’t want them to break, or perhaps land on someone’s head!). Other items should be stored safely in a zipped pocket, in one of our small free lockers in the cabin or left in the car or with a spectator.
We do not accept responsibility for your belongings while you are here.
Dress for a couple of hours in the great outdoors and be aware that the weather can change pretty quickly. You will be wearing a harness and wobbling about above lots of spectators so skirts, kilts, dresses and swimwear are not appropriate.
Trainers or walking boots are the best bet for your feet. Sandals, flip-flops, high heels or barefoot are not suitable. We recommend tying long hair back and removing jewellery before arriving.
Medical Conditions
We are not able to give medical advice so we recommend checking with your doctor before you book.
I live with a disability. Will I still be able to take part?”
That depends a lot on the type and severity of the disability you live with. We will always try our best to accommodate people and so far we have had an amazing variety of people who have successfully participated in many of our activities. However, if you are at all unsure, it is best to get in touch before coming along, to discuss things in more detail.
TreeZone Treetop Adventures
We have some more information for you at our Aviemore course, and if you want to come and have a look around before you book to get a clearer idea of what TreeZone entails, then pop in and we’ll happily show you around and discuss your needs.
You will need to be fairly fit and healthy with a reasonable level of mobility. If you struggle on the shorter courses, it may be a good idea to have a second lap of that instead of progressing onto the big courses, which are longer, harder and higher.
If you slip off an obstacle, our safety system will catch you. After a quick giggle you should be able to clamber back onto the course. If you are having a little more trouble, our instructors can come and give you a hand to continue round.
If for any reason you can’t go on and want to return to the ground, our team will assist you. For your safety, it is impossible to leave the course without a Treezone instructor.
Once you are released from the safety system and reach terra firma you cannot rejoin the course. We are unable to make refunds in this situation.
TreeZone always welcomes all feedback. If you have a complaint you must inform us verbally within 24 hours of your session and in writing within a week of your session for your case to be assessed. Any complaints made later than this will not be considered for a refund.
We also like good feedback and you can give us a Trip Adviser Review, Google Review, or Facebook Review, or send us a card and box of chocolates!
- TreeZone places great emphasis on safety, however there is an element of risk involved. On arrival for your session, everyone taking part must be included on a signed Acknowledgement of Risk stating that you understand the risk, and are fit and able to take part. Under 18’s must be counter-signed by an Adult.
- All participants must listen to and follow all the safety instructions given by an instructor, otherwise, they may be removed from the course and no refund will be given.
- We only employ suitably qualified, well-trained staff and use only modern, correctly maintained equipment.
- TreeZone is hazardous by its nature and participants must accept a certain element of risk during their session. Parents and guardians must also recognize the degree of risk to their children.
- To ensure everybody’s safety as far as possible, we reserve the right to postpone or cancel TreeZone sessions, as weather or group needs dictate. If we believe that individuals are placing themselves or others at risk by their actions, we reserve the right to remove the person(s) concerned from the activity.
- TreeZone is certified by the European Ropes Course Association (ERCA). This involves an annual inspection of our courses and safety system as well as our risk assessments, operating guidelines, and training programme. TreeZone instructors check the course thoroughly at the start of every day and are always on hand to help any participant anywhere on the course.
TreeZone reserves the right to cancel any session at any time. This will usually be due to events outside of our control and for safety reasons. In the unlikely event of this happening, we will attempt to reschedule the activity. If this is not possible, a full refund will be given. We do not offer compensation for other costs incurred (for example travel costs).
For bookings of 7 participants or fewer, cancellations must be made with at least 24 hours’ notice to receive a full refund or reschedule. Cancellations made with less than 24 hours’ notice (including participants changing their mind on the day or during the session) will not be refunded.
For bookings of 8+ participants, cancellations must be made with at least 14 days’ notice to receive a full refund or a reschedule. Cancellations made with less than 14 days’ notice (including participants changing their mind on the day or during the session) will not be refunded.
Please make sure you arrive on time for your session. If you arrive late, we will try to accommodate you, however this may not be possible, and you will not be refunded.
Please note that once a participant has checked in and is in their climbing harness, we cannot offer a refund if they subsequently decide they don’t want to attempt the course. Additionally, no refunds will be offered once they have started the course.
Under 12 year olds must have an adult on site for the duration of the session. The adult doesn’t need to participate.
It is the customer’s responsibility to ensure that all participants are:
– At least 8 years old for Treezone Aviemore.
– At least 1.1m tall (those under 1.3m will be restricted to the TreeCreeper Course).
– Less than 18st 12lb (120kg).
– Aware of what TreeZone involves and wants to take part.
– Sober and free from the influence of any other substances.
Group organisers should ensure all participants in their group meet these criteria before booking places on their behalf. Refunds will not be offered on the day should any participant fail to meet these criteria.
TreeZone reserves the right to cancel the session without a refund if it becomes obvious to us that any participants do not meet these requirements or if participants are behaving in a way that we believe may spoil the enjoyment of others.
If you’re looking for something a bit different to do with your work colleagues, whether it’s simply to escape the office environment and have a bit of fun as a team, or to use it as part of a team building activity day, TreeZone is ideal.
Not everyone is a fan of heights, so teamwork is essential if everyone is to make it round the TreeZone course. It provides an ideal opportunity to bond as a team in a fun, yet challenging environment and gives you all something to talk about back at the office for the weeks and months to follow.
If you’re planning to visit the area for a day, TreeZone could fit nicely into your plans. Perhaps a round of TreeZone in the morning to work up an appetite, before picking up some picnic supplies at the Rothiemurchus Farm Shop to take down to Loch an Eilein for a relaxing afternoon. Or perhaps drop in to Lomond shores for some shopping while you send the kids around our Loch Lomond Course.
You could tie in TreeZone with one of the other exciting activities on the Rothiemurchus Estate or at Lomond Shores for a fun packed day.
If you’re a stag or hen group staying in the area, TreeZone provides the ideal opportunity to stay out of the pub for a bit longer, clear the heads from the evening before and work up a thirst or appetite for later on.
It’s challenging enough for you to come away thinking that you will deserve that first thirst-quenching drink of the day, but not so difficult that you’ll be wanting to numb the pain!
We find that children and youths not only enjoy the experience, but they also benefit personally from the challenge. For most children, it could well be their first experience of an aerial activity like this, that challenges them both physically and mentally.
First, they have to make the first steps on to the lower level course, which is still high enough off the ground to raise the pulse rate somewhat. They can then progress to the higher, more challenging course, but only if they want to.
This gradual progression allows them to get used to the idea of being high off the ground in very safe environment, learning how to cope with a bit of fear perhaps, but ultimately coming away with a great sense of achievement and greater self-confidence.
Add to this the fact that they are breathing wonderful fresh-air in a superb location close to nature, and it makes for an extremely worthwhile excursion for young people.
TreeZone is open daily, from Easter to October with the first sessions typically starting at 10:00am. At other times of the year, it will be open at weekends, and holiday periods, like Christmas and New Year or the February half-term holiday. Up to date availability can be found on the TreeZone Aviemore or Loch Lomond pages.

Great day in the trees Had an amazing time wee man loved it and our guide Greg was very helpful and encouraging. Will be back again for sure when we’re back up next year
First time @ Tree Zone First time for me and my daughter and we’d definitely go back. Well organised, clear guidance and we were supported throughout. The whole experience was thoroughly enjoyable. Special shout out to Tash & Charlie who were kind and considerate when my daughter had a few wobbles and doubts about doing the Buzzard. Thoroughly enjoyable👍🏻
The best time!! Came for my hen party and we had the best time at Tree Zone!! It really was a challenge and I'm so proud of my family and friends for all getting round the challenging course! It's not for the faint of heart. I have to give an extra special shout out to the staff in particular Charlie. He helped us round, we had a laugh with him but he was also super supportive, coming up if we needed help and encouraging us from the ground. We will definitely be back!!
Couples? Families? Friends? Even Solo! It’s Lots Of Fun! We have been up to Aviemore a couple of times! It is definitely one of our favourite places to go. Before going up this time we searched for some activities to do whilst in the area! And we saw the tree trekking! We booked on and turned up! There was free parking over the road so there was not problem with that! The staff were extremely friendly and fun! We had a good laugh with them! The trekking itself was great! I found it quite a challenge even though I have done this stuff before! I really liked this trek it was lots of fun and I would definitely do it again!

Excellent experience! An excellent visit to TreeZone today. 4 out of 5 of the children in our family group were confident on the course, one however was very scared when she got up there. The instructors couldn’t have been more helpful. Dan helped my youngest all the way round making sure she felt safe and secure at all times. Because of his patience, she came away feeling happy and proud of herself. We couldn’t have asked for more…they went the extra mile to make sure the children had a great time. Thank you so much for your professionalism and friendly nature…it made our day better than we had hoped. Thoroughly recommend!
Great family fun Had a great time with family. Suitable for all ages and abilities (providing they meet height requirements). My son was confident and was left to get round happily. My daughter was more nervous but the staff were really attentive and helpful making it a fun experience for her. Would definitely recommend.
Fantastic So much fun - a brilliant morning. Instructors were so clear and concise had an approachable manner which put everyone at ease and created a fun environment.
Great experience Quality staff - very helpful throughout - continued to encourage all involved - on point with pricing - will recommend!!!
Highly Recommend TreeZone This was our first time at TreeZone and we would highly recommend it. The staff were amazing, they made you feel safe and confident and were on hand if you needed them. Both tree courses were brilliant. Our children wanted to complete them again. We had so much fun and will definitely return.
Expensive for what it is Well thought out track. Says 1hr 30 but really only about 30 mins. Expensive for the duration. You only get 1 go rou d and it's £10 extra for another go round
Challenging courses Me and my nine year old son did both of the courses. It's the most challenging of similar treetop obstacle courses that we've done. Our favourite was ziplining into the cargo net! This course is a great challenge for all ages - we will definitely visit again!
Excellent adventure Excellent adventure today. Great fun as usual. Instructors were amazing and very supportive. Our son broke his record for speeding round the course in 5 mins 11 seconds 🥰. Thank you and see you again very soon
Great adventure A great course, with some great obstacles, enjoyed immensely with our 10 year old daughter. You can hear and see the river Spey as you climb. Beautiful setting. Nice cafe and 2 minute walk away with good coffee and toilets The staff are all really friendly and helpful especially Ben our instructor
Amazing activity. Amazing activity. The boys were petrified as they started on the small one but enjoyed it so much did the big one too. Staff are amazing and really friendly and supportive
It is a must !! Amazing experience have been to the loch lomond one a few months prior and same again the staff are fantastic very friendly and great with the kids with jokes etc a wee fun bit of carry on with them helped with nerves of other children around i could see. If you have a chance go for it !!
Great experience for all Visited Tree Zone with my 13yo son who was super keen and had a blast. I was up there to keep him company (mum points!) and face my fears! Staff were so lovely and kind and supportive at wobbly moments for us both (me mainly!) but all encouragement was greatly appreciated and made such a difference to keep going! Safety briefing and attention all the way through was thorough and reassuring. Great feeling of accomplishment and wahoo! on the zip line back down. Thanks to all who made this a memorable trip!
Great fun if you like a challenge at height Visited last week with our boys 10 and 8. Our eldest Cameron loves Treezone and has now completed both courses 3 times. Our youngest James has been desperate to have a go and finally turned 8 earlier this year so booked for him, his brother and their Dad. I could tell from the ground James was nervous but the staff who were with us Ebony on the ground and Andy up in the course were fantastic. Ebony was fab at encouraging James and despite him being slow and freezing at one point he was never made to feel like he had to hurry up and when Andy started to make his way to check on him that seemed to give James the incentive to be brave and carry on, he wanted to complete the course on his own. Both staff were great at giving the boys confidence boosts with their encouragement and kind words.
Exciting and Challenging Experience in a great location. I spent the afternoon here with my 12 year old son Jack! The first course is fairly easy and once completed you move to the harder course which may I add is much more challenging!! This was great fun and Jack found the first couple easy but nearer the end he found the last obstacle's a bit daunting but with the calm and very encouraging staff member Andy he managed to get to the last one where the prize is a fun zip wire to the end!! Thank you Andy you made Jacks day. All staff were very helpful and appear well trained with safety first!!

Another Memorable Treezone Visit A fabulous visit to Treezone with family. A fun few hours with enthusiastic and friendly instruction. A very safe environment and so much fun and laughter by all. Highly recommended and easily accessible. Staff were so helpful and made the visit very memorable. Thankyou to all.
Great experience! We had so much fun and Andy was so good with the kids and me! Thank you for making it a great experience! I would definitely recommend!
A great high ropes course A great high ropes course with amazing instructors. I absolutely loved the buzzard course with its fun obstacles! I would definitely come here again.
Great family fun Awesome time, went with 2 9 year olds and were well looked after- team coached them well around the course. Massive thanks to Andy Finn and Dan for looking after us
Amazing staff and great fun Excellent activity for a hen party. The guys were great and the activity was flexible for larger groups. We had a really great time!
Family visit Great time had by all. Staff were very helpful and encouraging and so nice. Not for the faint hearted but Definitely give it a go. Thanks everyone.
Family fun- safe but challenging ! Loved it. Great experience all round. Andy our instructor was fantastic - professional, encouraging and very personable. I booked to join in with my three kids. The youngest and I managed two circuits on the introductory course; the older two- ages 10 & 13 nailed the Buzzard. We all left with huge smiles and a real sense of achievement . My daughter went to bed this evening telling me she’d had one of the best days ever! Wouldn’t hesitate to recommend.
Family Treezone experience A fun, family experience that will challenge your fitness and stamina. Our ages ranged from 10 to 54 years and was greatly enjoyed by all. Highly recommend.
Great place, lots of fun Great activity. Lots of fun. Got left behind by my son until he waited for me but I made it! Very rewarding to have done it and lovely to be up in the trees. Staff are lovely and very helpful and encouraging.
Ouch. Blistered hands. My child got 5 blisters, with blood, on one hand (rope burn), after slipping up on the ropes near the start of the "big" course. They did enjoy the zip wire at the end but nevertheless said they would not want to go to this venue again. Have been on other similar activities (Go Ape, Landmark) without this issue. Suggest gloves could be offered to participants, however even with gloves my child would not want to come again. Most people seemed to be having a great time, so I guess we were unlucky; however would not go again.
Exciting adventure, perfect for families. A lovely couple of hours on a sunny day, with nice views of the river if you can take your eyes off the rope! Staff were professional and helpful, especially Andy who took the time to have a chat with each member of our party at the top of the zipwire, which eased nerves a lot. Not the hardest course technically but perfect for families. A little queuing due to a small child wanting to come off the course, but this was again dealt with quickly by staff and didn't detract from the overall experience. Very close to Rothiemurchus Visitor Centre too, so well positioned for an ice cream afterwards. Highly recommend.
A great day out! We had an amazing time! All the staff were excellent, very helpful, friendly, encouraging and knowledgeable. I went with my two children 12 & 9 and they both enjoyed and managed the two courses with ease. The safety brief made us feel safe and harnesses checked over and ensured we were comfortable. Highly recommend this and we’ll definitely be back.
give eminem a visit had a great experience, had buckets of fun. B-tech eminem really made the whole experience even better ;P
Great exciting experience Did this today with my young son, instructors were young but very friendly and knowledgable. I managed only one round on the ‘easier’ route before I bailed out ( the wobbly ankles and fears got a hold !) , my son however careered on with the typical “no fear” attitude of young kids and had an absolute ball completing the whole route! I think it was ?Elise, Fergus and Poppy today - thanks for the encouragement 😁 we will definitely be back .

Creative and fun course with great staff A really creative and fun course; out of all the courses I've been on this one is definitely my favourite. The staff were really friendly and encouraging to anyone who got scared. Well worth the price!
A good experience, very high! This was a very good experience for a family with teens. I do not like heights but was assured by the thorough safety briefing and by the time I had worked my way around the smaller course, I was confident to take on the bigger course. The whole experience took about 1.5 hours, the zip line at the end was a great finisher and the best/quickest way to get back to solid ground! 10% discount for NHS/blue light workers (thank you).
