Happy Tartan Day!

If you’ve been part of one of our Highland Games events as part of a family gathering, wedding, or corporate event, you’ll have seen our guys decked out in their kilts for the occasion. You may well have had your own kilt on that day too.

Tartan has been around for a long time (since around the 3rd or 4th century in Scotland), but there is evidence of tartan cloth being around elsewhere long before that.

Nowadays you see it in all sorts of guises, from kilts at weddings or a rugby international at Murrayfield to hats, waistcoats, troos, and even picnic rugs! Did you know that the first ever colour photograph in 1861 was of a tartan ribbon!!

If, like us, you like to see a bit of tartan now and again, check out these amazing facts about the cloth that many Scots regard as their own. Bet you didn’t know as much about tartan as you thought.

But first, bad joke alert – What’s a Scotsman’s favourite pudding? Tartan Custard of course!

Enjoy Tartan Day.
