If you’re familiar with Scotland’s countryside you are likely to have seen some, if not lots of deer on your travels. Even if you’ve just been passing through, you may have spotted some of the estimated 1 million deer that now live in Scotland.
 
As an activity operator, leading canoe expeditions, guided walks or mountain bike rides, we bump into them on a regular basis. But managing the population can be a contentious issue because they cause a lot of damage to young trees for example, but culling deer to control numbers can be an emotive topic of discussion.
