Mini-Highland Games
Highland games are held in Scotland, the United Kingdom, and other countries with large numbers of people with strong Scottish heritage. Events are held as a way of celebrating Scottish and Celtic culture, especially that of the Scottish Highlands.
Visitors to Scotland can go along to events during the Spring and Summer to see events such as tossing the caber, weight for distance, Scot’s hammer, highland dancing, bagpiping and of course, the tug of war.
In Your Element offers fun, mini-Highland Games to groups at locations across Scotland from the Central Belt to the northern Highlands. These are especially popular with stag and hen groups, corporate get togethers or large family gatherings like weddings, where everyone is up for some fun and friendly competition. We have a mix of traditional events as well as some fun activities that you are unlikely to see at an official event!
How does it work?
- We can offer team-based competitions lasting up to 2 hours. Teams compete against each other in a round-robin of events, culminating in a tug-of-war pulll-off to decide the clan champions of the day. (Minimum of 10 people required)
- For bigger events where you may have other activities available, a BBQ or hog roast, we can run the event on a relaxed, drop-in style basis. No teams or competition, but participants just wait their turn and have a go at various events over the course of a couple of hours.
Suitable for …
- Large groups of friends or family with children as young as 6 yo (minimum of 10 people).
- Corporate events
- Public, family-oriented events like galas and fayres
- International visitors
- Private group bookings only, on request.
Where?
- We can potentially bring the event to your accommodation – we need a large, flat, grassy area (not a nice croquet lawn though!)
- We may have a venue near to where you are staying that you can travel to, e.g. near Inverness, Loch Lomond, Aviemore, Loch Tay
