Exploring Scotland as a family offers so many wonderful opportunites, from awesome beaches, to bustling cities, fantastic landscape and of course mini-adventures in the great outdoors.  Whether you are just looking for something to do at the weekend or visiting Scotland from another country, In Your Element has lots to tempt you.

  • For small family groups we offer a range of scheduled activities on fixed dates at fixed locations.  These can be booked online in advance.
  • For larger family groups (typically 6 or more) we also offer private, tailor-made activity experiences.  These can be at locations across Scotland, with more flexibility over dates and times.  For large family gatherings a big Highland Games event can go down a treat!

At Loch Tay, we are based on-site at Loch Tay Highland Lodges, an awesome place to stay on the shores of the Loch.  However, our activities are open to all, whether staying in the lodges, a local school or a family visiting the area while exploring the Heart 200 route.

Pre and Post Event Food and Drinks

Delicious pre and post activity food and drinks is also available at the lovely onsite restaurant The Boathouse. Situated on the shoreline, next to our activity office at Loch Tay Highland Lodges,  their hearty menu and indoor and outdoor seating area will be the perfect addition to your activity day with us! Choose from filled breakfast rolls with coffee, to lovely lunches using local and seasonal produce or perhaps a post event BBQ on the beach is more your thing? They can cater for all your needs.

Power Boats for Hire (with and without fishing permits)

At Loch Tay Highland Lodges we have 2 types of boat available to hire for pleasure trips on the Loch and for fishing.

Our Pebble Boats only have a 4hp outboard engine and are tiller-steered from the engine itself.  These have a maximum carrying capacity of 4 people and are fine for a slow potter around the loch.  They can be hired with or without fishing permits.

Our Cruisers have 10hp engines, a maximum capacity of 6 people and have a steering console at the cabin, so much more intuitive for folks with no experience to drive.  Given the bigger engine, these are a better bet for really exploring Loch Tay for picnics and sightseeing.

Hire costs include buoyancy aids (compulsory for all) and one tank of fuel.

Pebble Boats Half Day: £60

Pebble Boats Full Day: £80

Cruisers Half Day: £85

Cruisers Full Day: £115

Boats are available between:

  • 9:00am to 12:00pm,
  • 1:00pm to 4:00pm or
  • a full day from 9:00am and 4.00pm.
  • For more information on rules and regulations on fishing on Loch Tay, see the Fishing in the Trossachs website.

Please note, there is no need for you to be staying at Loch Tay Highland Lodges to hire a boat, non-residents more than welcome.
